School crossing guards needed in Marion County

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is currently looking for dedicated individuals to join its School Crossing Guard team.

This part-time position involves helping children safely cross major roadways while they walk to and from school.

Other duties include recording and reporting instances of reckless driving, detecting hazards for safety concerns, and using both arms and hands to direct traffic for extended periods of time in various weather conditions.

Candidates must be 18 years of age or older with no prior felony convictions. Additionally, candidates will be required to demonstrate their freedom of motion of upper extremities to execute arm and hand traffic signals.

School crossing guards work two hours a day and 180 days each year. The starting pay is $15 an hour, and the part-time position includes four weeks of paid holidays. All necessary equipment is also provided.
