A Marion County school bus was involved in a crash at an intersection in southwest Ocala on Tuesday morning.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol incident report, the school bus was traveling southbound on SW 75th Avenue when it approached the intersection of SW 80th Street at approximately 7:30 am. While the school bus was stopped at the stop sign at the intersection, an SUV was heading eastbound on SW 80th Street, near the same intersection.
FHP stated that the school bus attempted to cross SW 80th Street. According to the report, the approaching SUV had the right of way, and the front of the school bus proceeded to strike the front left side of the SUV.
After the impact from the collision, the SUV veered off the roadway and struck a fence. The driver and sole occupant of the SUV, identified as a 30-year-old woman from Ocala, was not injured.
The school bus was carrying 10 passengers at the time of the accident. FHP stated that there were no injuries reported.
The names of the drivers involved in the crash were not released by the Florida Highway Patrol.
