To the Editor:
Please give some credit to the teachers and librarians who supply and monitor the students’ pick of books. In the school system, we are required to get permission from the parents and administration on what books and movies can be shown to the students. Some of the books are awarded the Newberry award of excellence and I still censor some of the words in the book when I read to the class. This has been going on in the classroom for my 22 years of being a reading teacher. Now I feel that the teachers are being labeled as villains and the public treats us like we do not have a lick of sense on what is age-appropriate for young students. Please, we are highly educated people and we treat our students like they are our own children.
