The City of Ocala Recreation and Parks Department is looking for local teenagers between the ages of 13 and 15 who are interested in becoming a lifeguard.
A one-week training program, Junior Lifeguard, will be held on Monday, June 26 through Friday, June 30, from 9 a.m. to noon, at the Jervey Gantt Aquatic Fun Center located at 2390 SE 36th Avenue. This program will provide hands-on experience for teens seeking future summer employment as a lifeguard.

Participants will receive training in water skills, escape techniques, CPR, AED, and first aid. To be eligible for the program, candidates must pass these three prerequisites: swim front crawl for 25 yards, submerge to a depth of six feet, and tread water for one minute.
Registration for the Junior Lifeguard program is available online, and there is a cost of $75 per person.
