Looking for a new pet? Animal Services offering $5 adoptions in May

Marion County Animal Services has an abundance of dogs looking for forever homes.

“It is no secret that we need help. We have an overwhelming amount of dogs in need of homes,” stated Marion County Animal Services on its Facebook page. To help these animals find a new home, pet adoptions (dogs and cats) are just $5 throughout the month of May.

Many of the dogs are mixed breeds and have been at the shelter for a long time. Here are three of the dogs that are currently available for adoption:

Sir Andouille (pronounced AAN-DOO-EE) is 7 years old and has been at the shelter for over 200 days. He is a “big ol’ boy,” weighing 70 pounds, and he has a big mouth that loves to eat treats. He is silly, likes other dogs, enjoys the pool, and knows basic commands.

Maximus is a doe-eyed boxer and has been at the shelter since April 2022. He is 7 years old and would appreciate the opportunity to get out of his kennel more often. He is looking for a new home, not a noisy kennel, to ring in his 8th birthday.

Rotini is a 3-year-old mixed breed and has been homeless for over 215 days. He has “sweet, loving eyes,” walks nicely on a leash, and appreciates a fun toy.

Pet visitation hours are Tuesday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. No appointments are necessary to meet the sheltered pets.
