Several readers submitted letters to Ocala-News.com to discuss the topic of grocery stores in Ocala/Marion County.
“The grocery stores in Ocala need to start carrying groceries from other areas of the country. We have a huge influx of people from all over the United States, and none of the grocery stores carry foods that are traditional to certain areas of the country. It is extremely frustrating, and very inconsiderate of people who have chosen this beautiful Florida location to call home, and contribute greatly to the economy. The least they could do is make these folk’s new home an easy transition,” says Ocala resident Bette Haught.
“How about both a BJ’s and Costco with fueling facilities,” says James Pasquale, Ocala resident.
“We live off of 314 near the Winn-Dixie. It would be nice to have a Publix store here. We have to travel out of our way to go to the old Publix in the 40 east shopping center. We are nearer to the Winn-Dixie, but we like Publix a whole lot better. Winn-Dixie doesn’t have much of a variety of organic foods like Publix does. Please build a new Publix store out here where we are. Thank you very much,” says Silver Springs resident Kathy Larsen.
