Dewey Calvin Lee, 95, of Ocala Florida, passed away on May 17, 2023 in Ocala, Florida.

Dewey was born to Henry and Mary Lee on December 5, 1927 in Thomasville, Georgia. As a child, Dewey completed 5th grade and then was called to work in the fields with his father. As soon as he was old enough, Dewey enlisted in the Air Force. Dewey is a veteran of World War II, where he earned several medals, including the WWII Victory Medal, Berlin Airlift Divide Medal for Humane Action and the Good Conduct Medal. Despite his lack of formal education, Dewey learned to speak German fluently and served as a translator in the Air Force.

Upon returning to civilian life, he earned his vocational certificate and worked as mechanic for several years where his attention to detail was widely known and respected. As his family grew, Dewey started his own lawn care company, Lee’s Lawn Service, where he worked until he retired. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed gardening and German shepherd dog training. Dewey was involved in the VFW and served as chaplain until his health declined and he was no longer able.

Dewey is survived by his wife, Sharon, his sons Robert, Bruce and Brian; daughters Kristina and Jessica; bonus daughter Patricia; grandchildren Lauren, Amanda, Blake, Adam, Ronan and Gabriel; great grandson Jesse and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at Roberts of Ocala Downtown Chapel on June 3, 2023 at 3pm. Dewey will be interred at the National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL in a private ceremony at a later date.
