Two nonprofit organizations in Ocala recently received a generous grant from the Chief Greg Graham Legacy Foundation.
During the Chief Greg Graham Legacy Foundation’s mental health luncheon that was held on Wednesday in the Churchill ballroom at the Ocala Hilton, the foundation announced that His House for Her and Open Arms Village have both been selected as the recipients of a $15,000 grant.
According to the Chief Greg Graham Legacy Foundation, the two nonprofits were selected after a rigorous evaluation and voting process. Through the annual grant program, the foundation supports nonprofit organizations that share the late police chief’s commitment to improving the lives of local individuals and families.
His House for Her, one of the grant recipients, is a nonprofit that supports women who have experienced substance abuse, domestic violence, and other trauma. The organization provides these women with a safe haven and the tools necessary to rebuild their lives.
The foundation stated that the mission of His House for Her “aligns perfectly with the values upheld by the late Chief Graham, who was passionate about ensuring the safety and well-being of vulnerable populations.” The $15,000 grant will enable the nonprofit to expand their facilities and enhance their programs.
Open Arms Village, the second grant recipient, is a nonprofit that provides shelter and support services to single men, which is the largest homeless population in Marion County and the population that struggles the most to find assistance, according to the foundation.
The $15,000 grant will enable Open Arms Village to expand their services to provide comprehensive care and resources to men in need, which will help them regain stability and independence.
According to the foundation, the grant recipients were chosen through a grant process that was open to all nonprofit organizations in the Ocala community. Each applicant was evaluated based on their mission, impact, and potential for long-term success in serving the mental health community.
In a social media post, the Chief Greg Graham Legacy Foundation stated that it is “proud to support His House for Her and Open Arms Village, recognizing their outstanding work and dedication to improving the lives of those they serve.”
