Motorcycle crash in Marion County kills man, critically injures woman

A man was killed and a female passenger was critically injured after their motorcycle crashed on County Road 484 in Marion County on Sunday night.

At approximately 9:20 p.m., a 61-year-old man (driver) and 54-year-old woman (passenger) from Elk Grove Village in Illinois were traveling eastbound on County Road 484. For an unknown reason, the driver suddenly braked hard, which caused the motorcycle to skid on the roadway, according to the Florida Highway Patrol incident report.

FHP stated that the motorcycle overturned, and the man and woman were both ejected as the vehicle slid across the roadway in a northeasterly direction.

The man came to a final rest on the north shoulder, and he was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash by a Marion County Fire Rescue paramedic.

The female passenger was transported to HCA Florida Ocala Hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.

According to the report, the man and woman were not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Their names were not released by the Florida Highway Patrol.
