Due to the removal of overhead sign structures as part of an improvement project on S Pine Avenue (U.S. 441/U.S. 27/U.S. 301), Ocala motorists can expect temporary lane closures near the intersection of U.S. 441 and State Road 40.
The construction, which is part of a $4.3 million intersection improvement project, will begin at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 30, and it is expected to take four nights to complete (May 30 to June 2). The detours will be in place nightly during construction times, from 8:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., and traffic operation will be restored each day.

The northbound and southbound lanes on S Pine Avenue, near the intersection of State Road 40, will be affected. During construction times, the following detours will be in place:
- U.S. 441 northbound traffic will be detoured via State Road 200 to Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue. Traffic will be able to get as far north as W Fort King Street, which is where the road will be closed for further northbound travel.
- U.S. 441 southbound traffic will be detoured at U.S. 27 to Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue. Traffic will be able to go as far south as NW 2nd Street, which is where the road will be closed for further southbound travel.
- State Road 40 will continue to travel through the intersection. However, there will be no access to northbound or southbound U.S. 441 from State Road 40. Traffic will be detoured to Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue to gain access to U.S. 441.
Drivers should expect delays and use alternate routes when possible. Adverse weather conditions or other unforeseen circumstances may affect schedules.
