Man in jail on child porn charges accused of sexually battering boy

A 23-year-old Ocala man who is being held at Marion County Jail on multiple child pornography possession charges was arrested last week after he was accused of sexually battering a boy in 2021.

On March 17, 2023, a Marion County Sheriff’s Office detective concluded an investigation that led to the arrest of Luis Gabriel Garcia Rosado. The sheriff’s office had received several tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children indicating that numerous files containing child pornography had been uploaded from a single IP address, which was assigned to a residence in the 8800 block of SE 79th Road in Ocala.

A search warrant was executed at the residence on March 17, and an iPad belonging to Garcia Rosado was recovered. According to MCSO, this iPad was identified as the device that had uploaded over 100 items of child sexual abuse material, including files that depicted toddlers and young children engaged in sexual acts with adults.

A few weeks after Garcia Rosado’s arrest, an MCSO detective received information that a boy had disclosed that he was sexually battered by Garcia Rosado in the summer of 2021. During the victim’s interview, he recalled numerous instances when Garcia Rosado had sexually battered him, according to MCSO.

The victim told investigators that Garcia Rosado made him promise that he would not tell anyone about the sexual abuse. MCSO stated in a social media post that the victim’s disclosure was corroborated by additional information that the detective had obtained through the course of the investigation.

On Friday, May 26, Garcia Rosado was arrested while in custody at Marion County Jail. He is facing additional charges for sexual battery on a victim older than 12 years of age but less than 18 years of age (two counts) and battery of a child by causing contact with bodily fluids.

A court date has been scheduled at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, June 27, according to jail records.

Due to the nature of the charges against Luis Gabriel Garcia Rosado, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office believes that it is possible that he may have additional victims. If anyone believes that they may have been victimized by Garcia Rosado, MCSO asks that they call Detective King at 352-368-3586.
