How are your tax dollars being spent? Marion County releases inaugural Popular Annual Financial Report.

The Marion County Clerk of Court and Comptroller’s Office has released its inaugural Popular Annual Financial Report to provide residents with an easy-to-read summary of the county’s financial activities and economic condition.

The newly-released Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR) is for the fiscal year that ended on September 30, 2022, and it condenses the content from the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) into a “much simpler, aggregated presentation,” according to the Clerk’s Office.

The PAFR provides insight into how tax dollars are collected, spent, and invested in Marion County, along with information on employment, housing, tourism, economic impacts, and more.

“As Clerk of Court and Comptroller, it is my constitutional responsibility to maintain and safeguard court records, official records, and Marion County’s funds,” stated Gregory C. Harrell, Marion County Clerk of Court and Comptroller. “However, it is also my personal objective to ensure that the County finances are transparently and accurately presented and made easily available to our citizens.”

Harrell added, “I am grateful for the hard work and diligent efforts of our Finance Department, under the leadership of Director Jennifer Cole, for successfully creating the inaugural edition of Marion County’s Popular Annual Financial Report for the public.”

The Annual Comprehensive and Popular Annual Financial Reports are both prepared under the supervision of the Marion County Clerk of Court and Comptroller.

Marion County residents can view the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report and Popular Annual Financial Report online.
