To the Editor:
I totally agree with the letter that was recently published on the airport. The growth of Ocala has grown so much in the 15 years I have been here. I am from a town similar to the size of Ocala (Kalamazoo, Michigan), which took the initiative to put in an airport years ago. I understand there is a big new gas station coming into the Ocala area. The state and the county can afford to put in a new on-and-off ramp for that off I-75, but they can’t assist the community by putting commercial airlines in with a few runways. On top of creating new jobs for the community. The way the gas prices are, and the traffic to get to Orlando or Sanford or even Gainesville, it’s ridiculous. On top of the parking that you have to pay. And the tolls. There has been enough growth in the community to justify a commercial airport being put in.
