Pickup truck driver killed after crashing into trees in Alachua County

A 33-year-old man from Williston was killed after his pickup truck crashed into several trees in Alachua County on Monday night.

At approximately 9:30 p.m., a pickup truck was traveling southbound on SW County Road 241 when it drifted off the roadway and partially onto the west grass shoulder, according to the Florida Highway Patrol incident report.

FHP stated that the driver of the pickup truck oversteered to the left, which caused the vehicle to veer across the roadway and onto the east grass shoulder where it struck several trees before coming to a final rest.

Neighbors in the area told FHP troopers that they heard a loud noise at around 9:30 p.m., though the pickup truck was not discovered until after sunrise on Tuesday morning.

Alachua County Fire Rescue responded to the scene of the crash, and the driver and sole occupant of the pickup truck was pronounced deceased. The FHP report stated that he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

The driver’s name was not released by the Florida Highway Patrol.
