A Jaws-themed restaurant specializing in burgers is now open in Ocala.
Earlier this week, Jaws Jumbo Burgers, a tribute to the 1975 classic movie, celebrated the grand opening of its new location at 3131 SW College Road, Suite 303 in Ocala.
The eatery offers old-fashioned single, double, and triple-decker burgers that are ground fresh and hand patted in-house every day. They are served on a buttered and toasted bun, and available toppings include cheese, grilled onions, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise.
There are also non-burger offerings, such as chicken and fish sandwiches, chicken tenders, and fish and chips, along with side options that include fries, coleslaw, and onion rings. For those with a sweet tooth, the restaurant serves real ice cream milkshakes, malts, and cookies that are made from scratch.
In a press release, Jaws Jumbo Burgers stated that the restaurant was originally supposed to open in Orlando, close to Universal Studios, but there were issues with finding the necessary space. After looking at many cities, the “perfect beautiful space” was found in Ocala, conveniently located near Interstate 75.
Jaws Jumbo Burgers aims to create a memorable dining experience for the whole family. In addition to food, the restaurant features a 6-foot by 12-foot digital jumbo screen shark aquarium, a 10-foot great white shark replica that hangs from the ceiling, original movie posters illuminated display cases, and a variety of Jaws movie memorabilia and shark collectibles.
According to the restaurant, special discounts are available for veterans, military, police officers, EMS, firefighters, and seniors over 65. Monday discount days and punch cards also give customers a free combo meal after 10 visits.
Jaws Jumbo Burgers, which has a “cash only” policy (no credit cards accepted), is open Monday through Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. The restaurant is closed on Sundays.
