Ocala police hiring school crossing guards

The Ocala Police Department is currently looking for dedicated individuals to join its School Crossing Guard team.

This part-time position involves helping children safely cross major roadways while they walk to and from school.

Other duties include recording and reporting instances of reckless driving, detecting hazards for safety concerns, and using both arms and hands to direct traffic for extended periods of time in various weather conditions.

Candidates must be 18 years of age or older with no prior felony convictions. Additionally, candidates must have knowledge of safety rules which can be taught to young pedestrians, as well as knowledge of school procedures when dealing with uncooperative students.

The starting pay is $15 an hour, and school crossing guards work approximately 15 hours per week on regular school days (Monday through Friday) – an hour and a half each in the morning and afternoon.
