Missing, endangered 88-year-old woman with dementia last seen in Ocala

(Update: In a social media post on Monday afternoon, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office stated that Mercedes Torres-Venegas has been located, and she is safe.)

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help to locate a missing and endangered 88-year-old woman who was last seen leaving her residence in Ocala on Monday morning.

At around 10 a.m. on Monday, September 11, Mercedes Torres-Venegas was last seen leaving her home located in the 100 block of Midway Road in Ocala.

Mercedes Torres-Venegas, 88, is 5’4” tall, she weighs 130 pounds, and she has brown eyes and gray hair.

According to the sheriff’s office, Mercedes left her home on foot and went to a nearby Walmart. She then left the store and has not been seen since.

Mercedes has dementia, which has caused law enforcement and her family to be concerned for her safety.
