Drivers are running over wild animals in Ocala

To the Editor:

My wife and I retired here over three years ago. We have become alarmed at the number of wild animals lying dead in the middle or side of the road, with trails of blood behind them. While it’s true that accidents (especially in the dark) are sometimes unavoidable, can’t drivers slow down a bit, and/or if they encounter a wild animal in the road, try to avoid it rather than steamrolling over the animal? If not, Ocala is going to lose one of it’s main natural resources and attractions . . . it’s wildlife.
