Walk a shelter dog at Silver Springs State Park

Marion County Animal Services is inviting the local community to Silver Springs State Park this weekend for a dog walking event.

During the Pack Walk on Sunday, September 24, from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., event participants will get to interact with shelter dogs while taking them on a staff-led walk around Silver Springs State Park (5656  E Silver Springs Boulevard in Silver Springs).

“All of the dogs are in need of a loving home, so if you’ve been considering adoption but haven’t yet made it to our shelter, this event may be for you,” states Animal Services in a social media post.

The cost to join the event is the $2 park entry fee, and no preregistration is required.

The walk will consist of several loops through the park, so members of the community can stop by any time between 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. to say hi to the shelter dogs and accompany them on a walk.

At the conclusion of the Pack Walk, event participants will be able to stay in the park until 5:30 p.m.

According to Animal Services, additional Pack Walks are scheduled to take place at the same time on the fourth Sunday of every month through December 24, 2023.
