‘Legends of the Fort’ returns to Fort King this weekend

The Fort King National Historic Landmark is hosting an event this weekend that will allow visitors to step back into history to meet the legends of the fort’s past.

On Saturday, September 30, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., the City of Ocala Recreation and Parks Department’s second annual “Legends of the Fort” will be held at the Fort King National Historic Landmark, which is located at 3925 E Fort King Street in Ocala.

The event will feature a one-hour guided lantern tour that will provide tales from the past while guests learn about the grounds of Ocala’s Seminole War historic site. The group tours will depart every 30 minutes throughout the event.

Those in attendance will be able to partake in old-fashioned games such as checkers, horseshoes, and cornhole, and live music will round out the event. Refreshments will also be available for purchase.

“Legends of the Fort” is a ticketed event, and general admission is $10 per person. Tickets are still available and can be purchased here.

Parking for the event will be available onsite at Fort King.
