(Update: At 10:30 a.m. on Monday, the Ocala Police Department stated in a social media post that the roadway near the scene of the accident is now open. The driver who was hospitalized remains in critical condition.)
One driver was rushed to the hospital on Monday morning following a two-vehicle crash that occurred at an intersection in northeast Ocala.
According to the Ocala Police Department, officers responded to the intersection of NE 10th Street and NE Osceola Avenue after receiving reports of an accident.
OPD stated that one of the drivers involved in the crash sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital as a trauma alert.
No further details were provided by police regarding the cause of the two-vehicle accident or the condition of the second vehicle’s occupants.
As of 9 a.m. on Monday, officers are still at the scene of the crash. Motorists traveling westbound on NE 10th Street should expect delays.
