Merle Ellis Gaugler, age 89, passed away on September 11, 2023, in Ocala, FL. He was born March 29, 1934 in Medina County (Wadsworth) to Albert Roy and Metha (Snyder) Gaugler. Merle attended Wadsworth Centralized School (now Isham) grades 1 – 9. After moving to Akron, he graduated from Kenmore High School 1952.
Merle was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Irene A. Motzko, brothers, Ford L, Welden J, and Homer M Gaugler.
Merle was survived by wife, Lois (Jackson) Gaugler, of Ocala, FL, children, Russell Ernest Gaugler of Smithville, OH, Phyllis E. Flurry of Akron, OH, Michael A. Gaugler of Clute, TX, Lori E. Batten of Houston, TX, and several children, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, former wife and mother of his children Myrtle Morrison of Angleton, TX, and sister, Lois Yoder of North Canton, OH.
Merle enjoyed bowling and was a member of several bowling leagues. He retired as a machinist from F.C. Machine Company of Cuyahoga Falls, OH after 37 years.
The Cates House hospice took care of Merle in recent weeks. The family will gather for a hospice chapel service to be held in Ocala, FL on Saturday, September 30, 2023.
