Anthony Ewere Okoh
September 29, 1956 – October 27, 2023
Dr. Anthony Ewere Okoh was born in Ibadan, Nigeria on September 29, 1956, and gracefully passed away in Ocala, Florida on October 27, 2023. He was compassionately comforted by his wife of 31 years, Merrit Okoh, during his final moments.
Born to Sunday and Margaret Okoh. He grew up in Igbanke, Nigeria where he later went on to Ake Primary School. During his formative years in Nigeria, he had ambitions to travel to the States and continue his education. A dream which he achieved in the late seventies when he came to America. Majoring in Microbiology he received his M.D. from the University of Maryland; completed his residency at New York Medical College; and while performing his clinical rotations at Griffin Hospital in Derby, Connecticut he met his future wife, Merrit, who also worked as a nurse at Griffin.
Along with his wife, Merrit, they opened Marion Oaks Medical Clinic in 1997 in Ocala, Florida. Dr. Okoh and Mrs. Okoh worked as a team, with Dr. Okoh acting as the primary doctor for Internal Medicine while Mrs. Okoh executed administrative duties and nursing care. He continued working at his practice until 2015. Dr. Okoh had an undeniably exuberant and gregarious personality. He made friends wherever he went; from St. Lucia to Jamaica to Canada and even England, he made lifelong friends across the globe. A trait that also made his patients feel as though they had a close confidant as well as an amazing Doctor.

Anthony E. Okoh was an extraordinary Doctor, great husband, and loving father to his daughters, Christine and Laura. He spared no expense for his family or friends — and often went above and beyond for those he cared about. He will be greatly missed, but never be forgotten.
