
George Simpson Scott, age 90, of Ocala, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, November 7, 2023.
Mr. Scott was born on January 9, 1933, to his parents, George and Susan Scott in Scotland. He emigrated from Scotland to Canada in 1960 and was joined soon after by his wife, Elizabeth, whom he married in 1957 and his 1-year-old son, Simon. Perhaps the job he was most proud of was with Life Savers confectioners. Within a few years, he had worked his way up to vice president of sales. He received a number of accolades as a salesperson and it’s something his family was proud of too. He was lovingly known as “The Candy Man.” He was also a member of the Rotary for several years, including a stint as president of his local group. was a social, active man who was deeply involved in for the majority of his life. He enjoyed playing violin, painting, woodcarving, and golfing (even winning an amateur tournament at St. Andrews in Scotland). His family and friends will always remember him as a funny, caring person.
George is survived by his wife of 67 years, Elizabeth Scott; children, Simon Scott and Kerry Scott; his daughters and son in law, Randa, Neil, and Doreen; his grandchildren, Eric, Kyle, Devon, Heather, Brittany, Sarah, Sadie, and Samantha; and his great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Jackson, Ramona, Felix, and Milo.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Susan; his father, George; and his son, Greg.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday November 11, 2023, at 2:00pm at Baldwin Brothers Funeral and Cremation Society, 954 E. Silver Springs Blvd., Ste. 200, Ocala, FL 34470, with Pastor Stan Hannan officiating.
