To the Editor:
Wow! Here is my response to those recent transplants to Ocala from the northern states who miss their ice rinks: In case you are unaware, this is Florida. You are now residing in the southernmost state in the U.S. Those who were born and raised in Florida did not have the opportunity to ice skate, especially when the temperature reaches 100 degrees.
We have plenty of warm/hot weather sports more appropriate for the Florida climate to keep you occupied, i.e. pickleball, golf, bocce, bicycling, swimming, water sports, shuffleboard, tennis, horseback riding, etc. No ice skating.
Might I suggest, if you miss ice skating so much, you either build one behind your house, or hop into your vehicle, point it north on I-95, and head back home to all the things you miss so much. Either that, or stop complaining and thank your lucky stars you’re in Florida and not in NYC where I came from!
