The Florida Department of Health in Marion County (DOH-Marion) is offering a fun opportunity for parents and children to improve communication with each other through the utilization of art.
Humans have long used art to communicate, from etchings on cave walls to the priceless works hanging in the world’s finest museums.
On Thursday, December 21, DOH-Marion’s risk avoidance team for youth, BRAZEN, will host “The Art of Communication,” a free program that will use painting to teach communication skills for youth (ages 10 and older) and their parents or guardians.
Two sessions will be offered at DOH-Marion’s main campus, which is located at 1801 SE 32nd Avenue in Ocala. The first session will take place from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., and the second two-hour session will begin at 6 p.m.
According to DOH-Marion, Picasso’s Palette will facilitate the event, and all necessary materials will be provided for free.
Due to limited space, registration is required. Additionally, each parent or guardian may bring only one child.
