Sister Bennie Mae Blunt began this life on September 19, 1930, in Jessup, Georgia, she was the only child born to Mabel and Wilbert Murphy. She attended schools in Georgia. After moving to Florida she met and married Phillip Blunt, Jr.

Bennie Mae was employed by the University of Florida as a custodian in the Housing Department for 25 years. She was a dedicated member of Canaan Missionary Baptist Church, Inc. Although unable to attend in her last years, she loved hearing from her church family.

Bennie Mae was preceded in death by her parents Wilbert and Mabel Murphy, her husband Phillip Blunt, Jr., sons Eddie Williams, Roy Lee Brown, and Levi Williams; daughter Willie Mae McCloud and granddaughters, Frances Hooker and Deborah Surrency.

On Wednesday, November 29, 2023, the death angel stopped by Palm Gardens Nursing Home in Ocala, to remove her from this earthly dwelling to eternal life.

Those who loved and will cherish Bennie Mae’s memories are her: Daughter – Connie Williams (Ralph McNeal), Flemington, FL; five Sons – Carl Williams, Gainesville, FL, Curtis (Bernadine) Williams, Arnold (Teresa) Gasken, Gregory McClenton, Flemington, FL, and Mitchell (Gena) McClenton, Williston, FL; one Son-In-Law – Izell McCloud, Palatka, FL,; one Brother-In Law – Ogean Blunt, Flemington, FL; three Sisters-In-Law – Hilda Ivery, Flemington, FL, Ernestine Blunt, Reddick, FL and Mae Helen Patterson, Flemington, FL; she leaves many Grand and Great-Grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and sorrowing friends.
