On October 10, 2023, an MCSO deputy responded to a local residence in reference to a 13-year-old female victim who had returned home after running away. While speaking with the victim and her parents, the victim disclosed that she had been in a relationship with Roldan since she was 12 years old, and they had engaged in sexual activity, according to the sheriff’s office.

During a forensic interview, the victim described multiple incidents involving Roldan where he “(sexually) battered and molested her.” MCSO stated that the victim also described three incidents when Roldan helped her run away from home and harbored her from her parents.

On January 17, 2024, the MCSO detective made contact with Roldan at his residence located in the 18200 block of SE 24th Street in Silver Springs. After being read his Miranda rights, Roldan admitted to engaging in sexual activity with the victim, and his statements “corroborated the victim’s recollection of the incidents,” according to the sheriff’s office.

MCSO stated that Roldan initially denied that he had any files of child sexual abuse material on his cellphone. He eventually stated that he would not allow detectives to look through the contents of his phone because it contained pornography depicting other victims that were “closer to his age.”

During the post-Miranda interview, Roldan admitted that he had another cellphone belonging to him that contained an explicit image of the 13-year-old victim. He then handed over his phone to the detective and was informed that it would be kept for “evidentiary review,” according to MCSO.

Roldan then allegedly battered the detective, snatched his phone, ran away, and attempted to manipulate the device settings to prevent law enforcement from accessing its contents. The sheriff’s office stated that Roldan was quickly apprehended, placed under arrest, and transported to the Department of Juvenile Justice.

The detective continued the investigation and reviewed data that was gathered from Roldan’s cellphones. During this review, the detective found numerous files depicting child sexual abuse material. In addition, there were multiple incriminating messages between Roldan and the victim, in which he demanded sexually explicit content from her and sent explicit content to her, according to MCSO.

After the decision was made to charge Roldan as an adult, he was transported to Marion County Jail. The sheriff’s office stated that he is facing additional charges for possession of child pornography (10 counts), production of child pornography (two counts), lewd or lascivious exhibition via transmission (two counts), and one count each of utilizing a computer to solicit a child, transmission of material harmful to a minor, and unlawful use of a two-way communications device.

Roldan is currently being held at Marion County Jail. He is scheduled to appear in court at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, March 5, according to jail records.
