Ralph Merle Heaxt, also known as Pops, Papa, and Boogins, passed away on January 28, 2024 sur- rounded by family, at the age of 89 in Summerfield, FL. Born on August 26, 1934, in Miami, FL, Ralph had a remarkable life filled with love, laughter, and dedication.

Ralph was a proud Navy veteran, serving our country for 23 years. He excelled as a star navigator and was known for his exceptional work ethic. Ralph’s commitment to his military service was evident in his dedication and unwavering loyalty.

In his free time, Ralph enjoyed camping and traveling in his beloved motorhome. He found solace in the great outdoors, especially when boating and fishing with his sons and friends. Ralph’s adventurous spirit and love for nature brought him immeasurable joy throughout his life.

Ralph’s vibrant personality and sense of humor made him a beloved figure in his community. He was a jokester who could always bring a smile to anyone’s face. Ralph’s great sense of humor and warm-hearted nature endeared him to all those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Ralph leaves behind a loving family who will cherish his memory forever. He is survived by his devoted wife of 66 years, Harriet Heat, his daughter Susan Heat, and his sons Ralph Merle “Rusty” Heaxt Jr. (Denise Heaxt) and John Heaxt (Janet Heaxt). Ralph will also be deeply missed by his four grandchildren, Tarah, Chris, Travis, and Caleb, as well as his six great-grandchildren, Jace, Haven, Carson, Camdyn, Westyn, and Paisley. Ralph is also survived by his sister Yvonne Heaxt and brother George Heaxt.

Ralph was preceded in death by his mother Elizabeth Heaxt, father Ralph Heaxt, stepmother Edna Heaxt, brother Jimmy Hyson, brother Ira Heaxt, brother Robert Hyson, and sister Mary Hyson. Their memories will forever be cherished alongside Ralph’s.

A ceremony to honor Ralph’s life will be held at 10 am, Friday, February 23, 2024 at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. Contributions in Ralph’s memory can be made to Hospice, an organization that provided compassionate care and support during his final days.

Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Ocala, FL, is assisting the family with the arrangements. Their professionalism and understanding have been a source of comfort during this difficult time.

Ralph Merle Heaxt will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of love, dedication, and humor will live on in the hearts of those whose lives he touched.
