Four men arrested in Marion County on drug trafficking charges

A traffic stop in Marion County led to the arrest of four men after several drugs, including fentanyl and methamphetamine, were found inside their vehicle.

On Wednesday, February 14, a Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputy was on patrol in the area of W Highway 318 and NW 70th Avenue when a silver minivan was observed heading westbound toward Interstate 75. A “computer registration check” revealed that the vehicle’s registered owner had a suspended driver’s license, according to the arrest report.

The deputy conducted a traffic stop on the minivan near the interstate, and a nearby corporal also arrived on scene. The report stated that the driver, identified as 44-year-old Bryan Keithley, advised that he was the owner of the vehicle.

While speaking with Keithley, the deputy “detected the odor of raw marijuana” inside the minivan. Keithley, along with the vehicle’s three passengers – identified in the report as 45-year-old Jason William Schuck, 44-year-old Jesse Eugene Walker, and 38-year-old Cody Allen McGuigan – were instructed to exit the vehicle.

An interior search of the minivan was conducted, and the report stated that the following items were located:

  • A cereal box containing three clear bags filled with a white crystal-like substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine. The contents of the three bags weighed a combined 329.5 grams.
  • Two clear bags filled with a blue powdery substance that field-tested positive for fentanyl. The contents of the two bags weighed a combined 7.5 grams.
  • A tan/brown bag containing a clear baggie filled with a white powdery substance that field-tested positive for fentanyl. The contents of the baggie weighed 0.5 grams.
  • A green bag containing a clear bag filled with a blue powdery substance that field-tested positive for fentanyl. The contents of the clear bag weighed 3.5 grams.
  • A small plastic container filled with a green leafy substance that field-tested positive for marijuana. The contents of the container weighed less than 20 grams.

According to the report, all of the above substances were located in the center area of the minivan, between the front and rear seats. The four occupants of the vehicle were traveling from Lake City to Citra, and were allegedly in the vehicle with the items for an “extended period of time.”

After being individually read their Miranda rights, all four suspects refused to make a statement. They were placed under arrest and transported to Marion County Jail, where they are each being held without bond.

Keithley, Schuck, Walker, and McGuigan are each facing the following charges: trafficking in fentanyl (4 grams or more), trafficking in methamphetamine (14 grams or more), possession of marijuana (not more than 20 grams), and possession of drug paraphernalia.

In addition, Keithley is being charged with operating a motor vehicle without a valid license.

A court date has not been scheduled yet for Keithley, Schuck, Walker, or McGuigan, according to jail records.
