40-year-old man attempts to entice 11-year-old girl for sex, deputies say

A 40-year-old Marion County man is facing several felony charges after he allegedly attempted to entice a woman posing as an 11-year-old girl to have sex.

On Wednesday, May 15, a private organization called Predator Poachers contacted the Marion County Sheriff’s Office to report that they were communicating with a man who had expressed his wishes to have sex with a young girl, according to the arrest report.

An MCSO corporal noted in the report that a woman with Predator Poachers had generated a Facebook account for a fake 11-year-old girl. Earlier this year, on January 23, a man identified as Sean Michael Hall initiated a conversation with the girl via Facebook Messenger.

The report stated that Hall proceeded to send numerous explicit messages to the girl, which included “aggressive advances” and “requests to commit sexual intercourse with her and impregnate her.”

An MCSO deputy responded to Hall’s residence located in the 12000 block of NE 250th Court in Fort McCoy, and the deputy made contact with him. After being read his Miranda rights, Hall admitted that he “did something stupid” and that he “should not have messaged (the girl) at all,” according to the report.

During the post-Miranda interview, Hall stated that the knew the girl was 11 years old and the nature of his conversation with her was “wrong.”

The corporal responded to Hall’s home to conduct a follow-up interview. The report stated that Hall admitted to communicating with someone that he believed was a young girl, and he added that his actions were “inappropriate.”

Hall claimed that he has never communicated with any other children. When he gave an MCSO detective permission to search messages on his cellphone, the report stated that a message was found in which Hall was allegedly seeking “sexual abuse material of individuals aged 13 to 16 years old.”

Hall was arrested and transported to Marion County Jail, where he is currently being held without bond. He is being charged with attempted capital sexual battery, solicitation of a minor, and unlawful use of a two-way communication device.

A court date has not been scheduled yet, according to jail records.
