O’Calahan’s closing pub in east Ocala

O’Calahan’s Pub & Eatery is closing its east Ocala location at the beginning of June, just over five years after the business parted ways with the “Tilted Kilt” franchise brand.

The business plans to close its doors at 3155 E Silver Springs Boulevard on June 2, according to statements issued by staff and a band scheduled to perform at the restaurant.

“Hey everyone, we just wanted to shed some light as to why we canceled our show at O’Calahan’s in Ocala that was set for June 1st. Unfortunately, O’Calahan’s will be closing their doors for good on June 2nd,” reads a statement issued by TORN, a local rock band.

“The O’Calahan’s show is moving! After more than 10 years of holding our monthly car shows here, last night was our final show. We were informed that they will be closing their doors,” reads a statement from Ocala Street Cruisers, a club that holds local car cruises and meets throughout Marion County.

Additional statements by former staff and regular customers of the establishment suggest the restaurant’s last day of business will be Saturday, June 1.

A message to O’Callahan’s regarding its impending closure was not responded to before the publication of this story.

Known for its live music, trivia nights, and car shows, O’Calahan’s was rebranded by TK Of Ocala, LLC in 2019 after owners Larry Stone, David Stone, and Larry Chauncey decided to part ways with the “Tilted Kilt” franchise, which was acquired by another franchisor in the summer of 2018.

The pub is located just a tenth of a mile from the former site of Locos Bar and Grill, which closed shortly after it replaced another restaurant (Open Haus) that also had a short-lived run at the space.
