Ocala Juneteenth Celebration at Webb Field this weekend

The Ocala Juneteenth Celebration Commission will host a celebration of the holiday at Webb Field this weekend.

The Juneteenth celebration will take place on Saturday, June 15, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Webb Field, which is located at 1501 West Silver Springs Boulevard.

The event to celebrate the holiday is free and open to all.

Juneteenth is recognized as the national day to commemorate the abolishment of slavery in the United States, is free and open to attend for all. The holiday was first celebrated in Texas on June 19, 1865 and is aptly named for the combination of “June” and “nineteenth.” It is also known as African American Freedom Day or Emancipation Day.

Saturday’s event will feature food, vendors, entertainment, and other activities.
