Volunteers needed to walk shelter dogs at Silver Springs park

Marion County Animal Services is asking the public to come out and walk some shelter dogs at Silver Springs State Park this weekend.

The organization will host a Pack Walk on Sunday, June 23, from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Volunteers will get to interact with shelter dogs while taking them on a staff-led walk around Silver Springs State Park, which is located at 5656 E Silver Springs Boulevard in Silver Springs.

“All of the dogs are in need of a loving home, so if you’ve been considering adoption but haven’t yet made it to our shelter, this event may be for you,” reads a social media post from the organization.

The walk will consist of several loops through the park, so members of the community can stop by any time between 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. to say “hello” to the shelter dogs and accompany them on a walk.

The cost to join the event is the $2 park entry fee, and no preregistration is required.

At the conclusion of the Pack Walk, event participants will be able to stay in the park until 5:30 p.m.
