VIDEO: Suspect tased at golf course after robbing convenience store, fleeing officers

A 22-year-old man accused of robbing an Ocala convenience store was arrested after leading police officers on a foot chase that ended at a local golf course.

On Sunday, June 16, Ocala Police Department officers were dispatched to the Marathon convenience store located at 3620 E Silver Springs Boulevard in reference to an armed robbery incident.

According to video surveillance footage released by OPD, the male robbery suspect, later identified by police as Johnisaac Felix, is observed pointing a firearm at an employee while telling them to “hurry up” and “put (cash) in the bag.”

Shortly after the robbery was committed, an OPD officer spotted Felix changing clothes behind the Kingdom Revival Church, and the officer ordered him to “get on the ground.”

In body camera footage released by OPD, Felix is heard asking the officer, “What’d I do?” After ignoring the officer’s order to stop, Felix continued walking and stated that he “didn’t do anything.”

Moments later, Felix began running away from the officer, and he proceeded to flee on foot toward the Ocala Municipal Golf Course, which was nearby.

At the golf course, an OPD officer located Felix, and a brief foot pursuit ensued. The body camera footage showed Felix dropping to the ground after being tasered by the officer, and he was quickly secured in handcuffs.

According to the police department, cash from the convenience store and a firearm were found in Felix’s possession. He was placed under arrest and transported to Marion County Jail, where he is currently being held without bond.

Felix is being charged with armed robbery and resisting a law enforcement officer without violence.

A court date has been scheduled at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, July 16, according to jail records.
