Restaurateur breathing new life into former seafood staple in Ocala

A restaurateur is breathing new life into a west Ocala space with a menu that features a variety of seafood and chicken options.

Off The Hook Fish & Chicken celebrated its grand opening at 1301 NW 10th Street in Ocala on July 1. The restaurant is located in a space formerly occupied by Off The Hook Seafood Market, which permanently closed its doors.

The new business is owned and operated by Mufeed “Murphy” Zaqzouq. Zaqzouq is no stranger to the restaurant industry, having successfully run nearby Murphy’s Oyster Bar in Ocala for many years.

Now, Zaqzouq will bring his seafood expertise to the new location, which is situated just a few blocks from the intersection of NW 10th Street/U.S. Hwy 27 and U.S. Hwy 301 in Ocala.

As its name suggests, the restaurant’s menu is filled with fish and chicken options, including fried shrimp, fried calamari, fried clam strips, and fried gator. Both bone-in and boneless wings are available in quantities ranging from 6 to 100.

Outside of the wings and fried seafood, the restaurant also sells easy-peel shrimp, snow crab, crawfish, and other fresh seafood options at market price.

In addition to cheeseburgers, fish and chicken sandwiches, hot dogs, and seafood options, the restaurant also offers salads and a large variety of appetizers, including fried mushrooms, jalapeño poppers, fried okra, and hush puppies.

All sandwiches and platters may be purchased individually or in combination with the restaurant’s sides, which include French fries, coleslaw, corn on the cob, and onion rings.

For more information on the restaurant, or to place an order, visit Off The Hook Fish and Chicken at 1301 NW 10th Street in Ocala, or call 352-421-5055.
