Marion County officials cut the ribbon this week at a new park in northwest Ocala.
On Wednesday, Ocala Park Estates Park was christened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Located at 6371 NW 65th Street, the parcel was dedicated to Marion County Parks and Recreation in 1963 by a developer for use as a public park.
The parcel was vacant for decades until the county built a small, neighborhood park at the site in 2022. A renaming competition held at the time produced the name “Ocala Park Estates Park.”
The park features a simple playground with swings and a slide. It is located within the Ocala Park Estates subdivision, which is located in the northwest portion of Marion County.
