University of Florida Health officials cut the ribbon on a new, 10,000-square-foot medical facility at the World Equestrian Center this week.
The new UF Health World Equestrian Center was unveiled to the public during a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday.
Located at 2051 NW 80th Court, Suite 200, the facility features eight exam rooms, two procedure rooms, a pharmacy, and X-ray imaging.
“We are excited to be part of this globally recognized venue, growing with it as it continues to innovate and draw even more visitors to our region,” said Steve Motew, M.D., M.H.A., FACS, president and system CEO of the UF Health clinical enterprise.
While the pharmacy at the facility officially opened in July, the Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine division will open to the public on Monday, August 12.
The Walk-in Urgent Care at the center will open to patients on August 15, according to a statement issued by UF Health. The urgent care division will provide walk-in appointments for minor illnesses, injuries, and other “immediate care needs,” according to the organization.
The facility’s orthopaedics and sports medicine division will offer care for upper extremity injuries, pediatric orthopaedic conditions, and other needs.
“The opening of this new facility is another important step to increasing access to one of the top-rated academic-based orthopaedics programs in the country,” said C. Parker Gibbs Jr., M.D., chair of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine at the UF College of Medicine.
When it opens, the orthopaedics and sports medicine division will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The pharmacy is currently open seven days: Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The new medical facility is not UF Health’s first at WEC, joining the UF Veterinary Hospital that opened in May 2022.
