William Rufus Kearce

William Rufus Kearce, 73 of Citra, Florida, entered into Glory to be with his LORD and Savior Jesus Christ on July 30, 2024 in Ocala, Florida, with his loving wife (of 38 years), Victoria by his side.

William was born in Gainesville, Georgia to Mirey F. and Mary L. Kearce on September 3, 1950. He attended North Marion High School where he was a drum major until he voluntarily enlisted in the United States Army to serve his country. He was a Supervisor for Forest Lawn for 20 years until he became self-employed until his passing. He is a member of the Lower Muscogee Creek Tribe in Georgia.

He was an avid fan of the Florida Gators as well as the Atlanta Braves. He enjoyed many activities throughout the years – fishing, dirt track racing, golf, bowling, and metal detecting. He was a superb grill master, experienced auto mechanic, and skilled craftsman. He served the LORD with his wife in their church’s children’s ministry for many years. He loved his family dearly and went out of his way (no matter the time) whenever anyone needed help. His heart for giving was insurmountable.

He was a humble servant of the Lord Jesus Christ, where he continues to worship Him, at this very moment! William is survived by his wife, Victoria, his aunt Nita, his brother Gene, his brother Keith (Michele), his sons Joseph (Rachel), James and Ray, his daughters Kathy (Vic) and Sunshine (Jonathan), 4 nieces, 11 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and his beloved cat, Francis “baby boy”.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, his parents and 4 siblings.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held at The Church of God located at 3201 NE 25th Avenue in Ocala on August 31,2024 at 1 p.m. with Pastor Andy Merry officiating. In honor of William, please wear Florida Gator gear or blue and orange.

“But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry. For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:5-8 KJV
