Marie M. Wolcott Blackman

Marie Margaret Wolcott Blackman’s love of life and family shone brightly through her last days. Her courageous battle with cancer ended in peace, on August 3, 2024. She was 62 years old. All of her family will honor her legacy of kindness and peace as we move forward in our own journeys. Her morning star will always guide us.

Marie Margaret Wolcott was born 9/24/61. She grew up in the suburbs of Washington, DC with her parents, Margie W. Wolcott, and Louis H. Wolcott as well as her brother Louis A. Wolcott. They all preceded her in death, but welcomed her home that Saturday morning. She leaves behind one sister, Angele C. Wolcott (Linda Wells) of Madison.

Marie moved in 1979, when her father moved his company, Microdyne, to Ocala. Marie worked in banking in both Maryland and Ocala. She attended Central Florida College, and later received her Occupational Therapy degree from the University of Florida, Gainesville. She worked at both major Ocala hospitals, as well as for AdvoCare, as an OT.

She married Jeff E. Blackman in 1996. Marie was a loving mother and step mother to sons, Jacob Louis Blackman (Victoria Carroll), Jeremy Wren Blackman, as well as Jenna Applegate and Jesse Blackman. In addition she leaves many aunts, uncles and cousins who will remember her always.

Marie had a great passion for the natural world and encapsulated this through her. Her love of nature included plants, animals, gemstones and minerals. She saw the world through the artistic eye of color and beauty, so of course she was an excellent photographer. Her creative talents combined with her loving heart, helped her to provide a beautiful welcoming home for her family and friends. Music moved her soul, and she especially loved classic rock. She was a loyal, lifelong Washington Football Team (Commanders) fan.

Marie was a long-standing member of several Recovery Communities in Ocala. She lived her life through the lens of showing gratitude through service. She will be missed by so very many whose lives she touched so deeply.
