A fire that broke out in the attic of an unoccupied home in southwest Ocala on Tuesday morning was reported by a neighbor and extinguished a short time later by local firefighters before it spread to the rest of the home.
Marion County Fire Rescue crews were dispatched at 3:52 a.m. on Tuesday morning in response to a call from an individual who said a neighbor’s home was on fire in the 8000 block of SW 108th Lane Road.
According to MCFR, Engine #31 and other emergency crews arrived just after 4 a.m. and encountered visible smoke and flames emanating from the attic space.
Firefighters quickly deployed hoses to fight the fire and eventually took it under control by 4:20 a.m., according to MCFR.
Primary and secondary searches of the structure turned up negative and authorities determined that there was no one in the home at the time of the fire.
No injuries were reported to any of the local residents or firefighters at the scene.
The cause of and origin of the fire are still under investigation.
