Local officials just opened a new dog park to serve residents of Marion Oaks and south Ocala.
On Tuesday, local officials cut the ribbon on the Marion Oaks Community Dog Park, which is located at 325 Marion Oaks Lane in Marion Oaks.
The new park is open from dawn until dusk. All dogs must be leashed while entering and exiting the park, and dog waste must be cleaned up by owners immediately.
Additionally, dog handlers must be at least 16 years of age and must be inside the park and supervising their dog with “leash readily available” at all times.
Children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult and supervised at all times.
Aggressive dogs must be removed immediately and dogs should be under voice control, according to the rules.
The dog park also prohibits human and dog food/treats, glass containers, dogs in heat, sick dogs, aggressive dogs, and puppies that are under four months.
