To the Editor:
What I find amazing is the lack of credible local understanding of information related to COVID-19. The National Foundation of Infectious Disease has objective insights into the differences between COVID vs. colds or the flu. In addition, the same source of information includes a list of ways to protect against infection, including face masks. The web site is easy to access. Here is the address: https://www.nfid.org/infectious-diseases/covid-19/
Other professional sources of credible information include the Mayo Clinic and the National Institute of Health.
That said, I wear a face mask whenever I shop in a local store or attend a meeting. It protects me from others and it protects others from me. It is not a big deal to wear a mask. In fact, it is a simple form of protection. I also get the shots whenever my doctor advises. So far, I have not contracted COVID and I do not want to, because it can kill, nor do I want to infect anyone else. Hopefully I am doing something right.
