Public safety agencies will now have clearer and more reliable radio service throughout Marion County thanks to the recent installation of new communication towers.
On Friday, Marion County Fire Rescue announced on social media that the construction of two new public safety communication radio towers has been completed.
Located in Marion Oaks (southwest Marion County) and on Sparr Road (north Marion County), the new towers are expected to “dramatically increase radio range” for local public safety agencies, including Marion County Fire Rescue, as well as the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Ocala Police Department, and Ocala Fire Rescue.
According to MCFR, the new communication towers will provide clear coverage across 95% of Marion County.
“These enhancements are crucial for the safety and efficiency of our teams in both urban and rural areas,” stated MCFR on its Facebook page.
In addition, Marion County school buses are expected to benefit from the increased coverage from the towers, with improved communication in even the most remote sections of the county.
“We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Marion County Board of County Commissioners, Public Safety Communications, and Motorola for their unwavering support in enhancing public safety throughout Marion County,” stated Marion County Fire Rescue. “Together, we are making our community a safer place for everyone!”
