A 44-year-old Ocala woman was arrested over the weekend after she was accused of sending texts to her estranged wife that allegedly contained threats about shooting her new girlfriend.

On Saturday, August 24, a Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to the female victim’s residence in reference to threatening text messages that were allegedly sent by her soon-to-be-ex-wife, Kelli Ann Lyons, according to the arrest report.

The victim stated that the text messages from Lyons were about her new girlfriend. The deputy noted in the report that one of the messages stated, “And if you ever send ur f***ing crackhead girlfriend to my dad’s again I swear on ur life I will take her last breath.”

In another text message to the victim, which was sent on August 24, Lyons allegedly stated, “I gotta bullet with ur crackhead girlfriend name on.” In addition, a photograph of a firearm was sent to the victim.

The deputy responded to Lyons’ residence, and a relative of Lyons let the deputy inside. The report stated that while inside the home, the deputy observed shoes belonging to Lyons that appeared to match shoes that were visible in the photo of the firearm.

The deputy made contact with Lyons. After being read her Miranda rights, Lyons allegedly stated that she had sent the text messages to the victim because she was “upset over the new relationship” the victim was involved in.

Lyons was arrested and transported to Marion County Jail. She was released the following day after posting a $1,000 bond, and she is being charged with sending written threats to kill or do bodily harm.

On Tuesday, September 24, Lyons is scheduled to appear in court at 9 a.m., according to jail records.
