Charlotte Eileen Ross, 84, of Worthington, MA passed away peacefully during a morning nap on August 13th, 2024 in Ocala, FL.

Charlotte was born on November 1st, 1939 to Richard and Edith Hathaway. She went to school in Northampton and graduated with a Bachelor in Music Education from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell in 1969. She worked as a music teacher in Melbourne, FL. She was married to Richard Wallace Ross on June 20th, 1970. She worked in shipping and receiving at Landell Enterprises and in the bakery at Big Y Supermarket over the years.

She directed the church choir, also playing the organ when needed, at Agawam United Methodist Church for 35 years and joined the church choir at Ocala First United Methodist Church upon moving to Ocala. She was involved in Eastern Star for 64 years and was Past Matron of Golden Chapter #5. She was an active member of HELMA Court, Daughters of the Nile in Springfield, MA and was a member of the Order of the Amaranth. She also served as Mother Advisor of West Springfield Rainbow for Girls for 19 years, as MA State Choir Mom for 25 years and on the advisory board in Ocala, FL for 5 years.

Her love of music and children stayed with her always. Charlotte Spider, as she was known by some, was a hard worker, clever, wise and thoughtful, loyal, kind and true as her namesake. Charlie Rose, as she was also called, was a beautiful person inside and out, super sweet, caring and kind, exceptionally talented, generous in all aspects and the most wonderful and amazing mother my sister and I could ever have wished for.

She is preceded in death by her husband Richard Ross, her grandson Israel Rivera and her grandson-in-law Michael Peluyera.

She is survived by her daughters Sylvia Rivera and Jennifer Brill, her son-in-law Robert Brill, her brother Richard (Bub) Hathaway, her grandchildren Athaliah (Rivera) Mahfouz, Ariela (Rivera) Peluyera and Cailee Brill, and by her great grandchildren Fatimah Shanab, Mariam Rivera, Amara and Jairon Vega-Enamorado, Savannah, Serenity, Shaylani and Shyanne Peluyera.

A short service will be held at Good Shepherd Memorial Gardens 5050 SW 20th St, Ocala, FL 34474 on Saturday, September 21st, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., where we will place her to rest followed by a “Celebration of Life” at Marion Dunn Lodge 1846 SE 36th Ave. Ocala, FL 34471, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 pm.
