An onramp from State Road 200 to Interstate 75 will close for two nights this week as workers continue to make improvements to the roadway, guardrails, and medians at the interchange.
The onramp to southbound I-75 from SR 200 will close beginning at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 3. According to the Florida Department of Transportation, the closure will occur “through 6 a.m. Wednesday.”
Motorists looking to travel southbound on I-75 at that interchange should instead head east on SR 200, turn north on SW 27th Avenue, turn west on State Road 40, and travel one mile to the southbound I-75 on-ramp.
The closure of the onramp comes a week after a similar closure of the offramp at the same interchange, which is located in southwest Ocala.
The closure is part of project 443170-1, which calls for the resurfacing of I-75 from the Sumter County Line to State Road 200.
Much of the resurfacing along the highway has been complete. Crews have been seen for months working to improve the interchange at SR 200 and several others in Marion County.
The cost of the improvements to the stretch of I-75 alone is estimated to be around $28.4 million. That total does not include the work being done at the interchanges.
The resurfacing project for I-75 in Marion County is estimated to be complete next Spring.
