Since sharing a letter from a local resident hoping to see Brightline connect its high-speed trains to Ocala in the future, multiple locals have written in to share similar opinions. Here are a few:
Martin Marszalek, Ocala: “I think bringing Brightline to Ocala would be a great idea! Being 65 and a non-driver, it would help us to get to Orlando to catch flights and visit our families in South Florida. Even making connections with Amtrak would be so much easier. Personally, I think it would be a great idea.”
William Lee, Ocala: “Hello. I agree with the gentleman that wants Brightline to come North, up to Ocala, (and Gainsville if it can). Why not? The rails are here, and the stations, if needed. While l understand the need for ‘feasibility studies,’ isn’t the idea of the train ‘public transport?’ We have a lot of retirees here (and college kids in Gainesville) that need affordable transportation from North to South Florida, so, ‘Why not?’“
Javier Estamponi, Ocala: “Please make sure all our requests go to Brightline as we would love to jump in the train rather than drive to South Florida and it would be a money maker for Brightline. Please share our wishes with Brightline. Thank You.”Â
Bonnie Krawiec, Morriston: “I totally agree with Kate Dorn regarding her letter to the editor on Aug 30. I truly believe if the Ocala train station connected to the Brightline, many residents would use it. What a helpful connection it would make! Not only would people who wanted to connect with the bright line to go further South I believe it would be used by young and old going to Disney or the airport!”
Judith McDonough, Ocala: “I am also a senior and don’t drive. I am very interested in having the Brightline open in Ocala. Thanks!”
