City of Ocala hosting therapeutic cooking classes for children with special needs

The city will host another installment of its popular therapeutic cooking class this week, which is designed for anyone six and older with special needs.

The next cooking class will be held on Thursday, September 5 from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Barbara Gaskin Washington Adult Activity Center, which is located at 210 NW 12th Avenue.

The class will present participants with an opportunity to socialize and learn their way around the kitchen while working together to prepare a meal. It will also emphasize concepts such as nutrition, meal planning, budgeting, and safe food handling.

The deadline to register for the class is one week before each class. There is a $5 fee, and anyone ages 6 and up can participate.

Additional cooking classes will be held on October 3, November 7, and December 5.

Register for the class online or call 352-401-6980.
