A local group that has opened multiple Culver’s restaurants in the tri-county area over the past several years will open a second location in Ocala, just under five miles from the other restaurant in the city.

Culver’s is planning to build its second location at 3637 W Silver Springs Boulevard, between Wendy’s and Interstate 75 in west Ocala.

According to Marion County property records, the 1.65-acre parcel was purchased in July for $1.3 million by Seminole Dirt Holdings II, LLC. That company is co-owned by Joshua Clark, Steven Buchmeier, and Shad Finley.

In 2017, Finley and his partners opened the first Culver’s in the tri-county area in The Villages. In 2021, they opened the first Culver’s restaurant in Ocala. In 2022, the group opened the first Culver’s in Wildwood.

There are approximately 1,000 Culver’s restaurants across the United States, including over 100 locations in the state of Florida alone. Culver’s was founded 40 years ago by George, Ruth, Craig, and Lea Culver. The first location opened in Sauk City, Wisconsin.

The newest Culver’s in Ocala joins at least a dozen other national chain restaurants that are situated within a few blocks of the busy interchange at I-75 and W SR 40.

That includes Taco Bell, Subway, Dunkin’, Burger King, McDonald’s, Popeyes, Waffle House, Zaxby’s, Wendy’s, KFC, Subway, and Denny’s.

Just down the road from the restaurants, a new RaceTrac is hoping to gain approval for its new site in west Ocala.
